Hello everyone,
Well I have finally done it. I have worked a full 8 hour day...and will continue doing that for the next 2 months. It was a little odd at first, sitting at a desk for such a long period of time, as I am used to the flexibility of my Hall Director position, or previous supervision positions in which I would walk around a building for the entire shift. I do enjoy it though, don't get me wrong!
Yesterday I started working on my summer projects, including the development of a leadership program for RAs, chairing a theme committee for Fall Training, and updating/developing training scenarios for Fall Training. I have also acquired the task of presenting on Student Development Theory to the entire Ancillary Services department (includes Residence Services, Conference Services, and other student programs departments). This should be fun, as I did enjoy the class last fall, and I actually like the theories that I am presenting on (Chickering, Perry, Kohlberg, and Myers-Briggs). Wish me luck on July 9th!
I also got my syllabus for the class that I have to take this semester...and it is a lot of work! This will be fun balancing that class, my work here, and my independent study (goal is to get Section 1 done this summer!). Ill keep you posted on how these are going!
This weekend should be fun, as there is a huge block party on Saturday that I was invited to, in order to raise money for Alberta Women's Shelters. At this block party there is a wine tasting with over 50 different wines, a BBQ, and a giant outdoor movie at dusk (10pm). Also, on Sunday, I will be playing Capture the Flag with a group of students on campus. Apparently it is massive, and will include the entire campus!
That's all for now...more to come later this week!
