11/10ths of the Law

Hello everyone,

A lot has happened since last time I posted, so here is the recap!

On Thursday, I presented on Student Development Theory. I focused on 4 theories; Chickering, Perry, Kohlberg, and Myers-Briggs. I was told to plan for two hours...which is a long time for me to consistently talk, unless it's about Lost! The meeting before my presentation ran late, so I didn't get to start until 10:30am. Before I went up, I asked a co-worker if it would be fine if I ended early, because 2 hours is a long time. She looked at me and said it better not be that long...so I took that as a "Yea, an hour is fine!" The presentation went really well, and the group was engaged with the discussion. The most amusing part was having everyone take a sample version of the Defining Issues Test. We started discussing some of the responses, and there was a wide range of responses on whether Heinz should steal the drug or not...needless to say, it was a great discussion! Afterwards, a few people came up and asked more questions, and I actually knew the answers...which is a good sign! My boss's boss said he loved it, and thanked me again for presenting.

On Friday, my interview with the boss's boss's boss was good...however, it did not fulfill my class obligation for an interview. We had a great discussion on Canada and the United States, and how Higher Education operates in both. It was very enlightening, so I guess it still was beneficial. I have now set up an interview with my boss's boss's boss's boss (confused yet?) for class, and I sent him the interview questions already, so he will be prepared. More on that after Monday's meeting! After work, I went with the housing folk to see a movie, and then we went to the Pub afterwards. It was a great night!

On Sunday, I continued with my tradition of Capture the Flag, but had to skip out on poker because of homework...seriously, it's like school was invented to interfere with my fun time! :-)

As for this current work, not much has happened, except some mindless labour (i.e. putting tabs in folders). I did get to see Half-Blood Prince at midnight last night, which was amazing! As for the "Hater of America" update: we have been getting along better, but comments are still made randomly. My key comment was yesterday. The girl in the office from Australia was going to NYC (Caw-fee Tawk) for a week, and left her laptop with "Hater of America." Hater brought up the fact that she gets to keep the laptop if Aussie dies. I smiled and said, "Yes, because possession is 9/10ths of the Law...that's like 11/10ths of the Law in Canada!" She was ticked off at this comment, and gave me a look of pure disgust. I laughed along with the rest of the office!

As for this upcoming weekend, we're heading to the casino on Friday night, and a silent auction/fundraiser on Saturday night. Next weekend, off to the Mountains of Jasper...apparently the nicest sight in all of Alberta! We will soon see! More to come early next week, or Saturday if I win big at the casino!
